Community Reinvestment

The Community Reinvestment Act is a federal law originally passed in 1977.

The CRA applies to federally-insured depository institutions, national banks, thrifts, and state-chartered commercial and savings banks.

The CRA encourages these banks and financial associations to meet the needs of borrowers in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.

Many Texas financial institutions have targeted portions of West Dallas for CRA initiatives.
